In today's world, our pets are much more than companions; they are part of our family and, for many, a fundamental pillar of emotional support. If your dog provides you with stability, calms your anxiety, or helps you manage difficult situations, they may be eligible to be formally recognized as your emotional support animal (ESA).
What is an *Emotional Support Certificate (ESC)?
This certificate is a legal document issued by a licensed mental health professional, confirming that your dog is an essential part of your therapeutic treatment.
Unlike a service dog, an ESA does not require specialized training to perform specific tasks; their simple presence and affection are the key to your well-being.
Benefits
This document gives you the possibility to travel by plane with your dog in the cabin (under the regulations of each airline) and to access certain public spaces that might otherwise have pet restrictions.
It is important to note that the certificate validates your therapeutic need, allowing your companion to accompany you in situations where their presence is crucial for your mental health.
My evaluation process
My approach is holistic and human. The process to obtain the certificate includes a detailed psychological evaluation, where we will discuss your particular situation and the importance of your dog in your life. This is a safe and confidential space.
At the end of the evaluation and if clinical criteria are met, the mental health certificate will be issued, which is valid for one year.
Once this period ends, I also offer the option to help you with the renewal of your certificate, ensuring you always have your documentation up to date.
